Holy Sepulchre
Milan, the capital of Lombardy, preserves the relics of the Holy Sepulcher. The Nation of Lombardy presents this scene. In front of the statue of the Holy Sepulcher (1702) from the Jerusalem chapel, accompanied by pleurants (mourners with rattles), steps Joseph of Arimathea carrying the chalice in which, according to legend, Christ's blood was collected.

Resurrection
The chamber of rhetoric of the Three Saints presents this scene, because it has three saints in its coat of arms: Barbara, Catherine and Mary Magdalen, the chief witness of the Resurrection.
The Resurrection of Jesus Christ is the central point of doctrine for the Christians. Jesus is in a new and vital way near to everyone who turns to Him, in life and in prayer. In order to celebrate this resurrection, Christians come together around the last supper, the Eucharist. First, nobody recognises Him. Mary Magdalen thought Jesus was the gardener, until He called her by her name. Then we see the disconsolate Apostles. Suddenly they recognise Jesus. From then on, the Apostles proclaim, clothed in priest’s garments: ‘Peace be with you!’
