    Jesus blesses the children

The scene is presented by the guild of schoolteachers.

Jesus likes the children, because they are just as childlike and receptive to God as he himself is. Children are holy and those who cause them harm belong to the worst sort of people. A few disciples of Jesus wanted to keep the children at a distance because the master was tired. But Jesus admonished them: “Let the children still come to me”.

    Hosanna

Augustine of Canterbury, who brought Christian faith to England, thought that the ‘Angles’ should better be called ‘Angels’. Because ‘Hosanna’ is an angels’ song, this group is introduced by the English nation.

The same Jesus who is now welcomed with jubilation will be put to death a few days later. This scene shows the two-facedness of man.
